I recently attended GiffGaff’s Spend or Save Games Night at the contemporary venue Ikon Gallery which is perfectly set in Birmingham’s Brindley Place. Not just any ordinary ‘Games Night’ but a night that consisted of knowledge and a game, that would teach me how to be more money savvy….how could I say no to that.
Upon entry to the beautiful Ikon Gallery, we were greeted by a friendly individual with a glass of bubbly! In my case a glass of bubbly Lemon Fanta…..pregnant life!
We were given the low down on all of the new services that GiffGaff Gameplan will provide to help us be more in control of the pennies. This will include insights into our finances, credit reports, and how to improve our financial health.
This event was a way to show that GiffGaff are no longer just ‘the peoples network’, but a service that we can now use to revolutionise our personal finances to help us reach our life goals!
To make it even better GiffGaff Gameplan is STILL the peoples company! They have even created a Founders Club which allows all of the Gameplan members to come together and share ideas to improve the overall service. They are even offering a free credit score check for every person, get yours here!
How could I wait this long to show you the amazing feast of food on offer! We had everything from homemade rustic style slaw to vegan pizza, this was my favourite part of the evening!
As soon as we were fed and happy the games night commenced! Spend or Save is a game all about spending your money wisely and trying to save as much as you can. How you choose to do that is up to you! It is a similar concept to Monopoly, you get money, you play until you run out and then your essentially out of the game!
Everyone starts the game as a fresh-faced 20-year-old with £1,000 to survive. As you make your way around the board you’ll have many incomings and outgoings to keep track of – from paying rent and dealing with bills to picking up a freelance job.
Each time you complete one circuit of the board you’ll find you’ve aged five years! It’s your goal to have more money than all other players by the time you reach retirement.
To help you succeed, you can decide to spend money on specific ‘Life Goals’ at any time, like buying a car or even getting married! They’re expensive, but they carry bonuses that may help you out in the long run. It all felt very realistic as it was the only game ive played that actually comes very close to real life goals and experiences!
The beautiful Michelle also known as The Willow Tree made my night and experience all the more enjoyable, even if she did whoop my butt at the game! Thank you to Jennie for inviting me to the event and to GiffGaff for the awesome goody bag!!
